Hi everyone! Welcome E-mail Picks. You
know, this morning there weren't so many
people on the rush hour train and it felt
like people were away from work for
Obon break. Me? Well, in my case I'm going
to take summer vacation sometime in
September because I'm working on making
a new program right now. I still have
many video lessons to record, so it's
gonna take a couple more weeks. Now my
boss, Hika, is away from the office right
now. He's not on vacation but he's on
business trip to our Philippines office
and we usually have a weekly team
meeting but this week... we can't. So,
instead, Hika sent me an e-mail to check
progress of my work. This is it:
Hi Kyota, Greetings from the Philippines.
How's the new program coming along? I
know the deadline is tight but I'm
hoping you can complete it by August
31st. Let me know if you have any
problems. We're a team and we can always help. Hika.
So as always, he's being a manager and
a teammate. He does this really well, even
in e-mails because look at the end,
instead of writing something very common
like "please let me know if you need any
help"
he wrote "we're a team and we can always
help." So, he's very good at communicating
his own character in writing - he does
this very well by choosing the words
that he always uses -- the simple words he
always, always uses. Anyway, I'm going
to write him a reply right now and
basically I want to tell Hika
everything is alright, but probably he
wants to know how close I am to
finishing the new program. So, I'm going
to write about that too - here goes:
Hi Hika, I'm right about 2/3 done with the new
program. I still have a lot of filming to
do, but I'm sure I'll get them done by
the end of
the month. I'm not running into any
problems at the moment. I'll let you know
if I do. Enjoy the Philippines and have a
safe trip home. Kyota. Okay,
so basically I gave him a rough idea of
where I was in the project. There's no
need to make my message long here
because the message is very simple.
I'm two-thirds done; I'm on schedule and
there are no problems so that's my e-mail
to report progress, and I hope that
gives you an idea for your future e-mails.
That's it for today, thank you for
watching and I'll see you next week.
