- ▼ “Just FYI (For your informationの略) “といった表現を使い、「アクションを求めない指摘」をする
There seems to be an error” といった間接的な表現を使う
You might want to fix it” と、これまた間接的な表現を使う

Hi everyone! Welcome to another E-mail Picks video.
Today I'm going to show you
how I would point out a colleague's mistake.
So I have this colleague named
Michael and he sends out the sales
figures every month and everybody in our
team sees the figures because he cc's
the email to the whole team.
Also, our President sees the figures at the
beginning of the next month. So I was
looking at the sales figures this
morning and I found a small but very
serious error. There is an extra zero in
total sales and it looks as if we made
10 times more money than usual.
Now I'm not responsible for sales and I'm not
Michael's boss, but I think I should tell
him that there is a mistake before the
President sees it. If I don't point out
the mistake, Michael will get into
trouble. So here's what I'm going to write:
Hi Michael, Just FYI: I was going
through the monthly sales figures and
there seems to be an error on page two.
There is an extra zero in Total Sales.
If you haven't already, you might want to
fix it before you submit it to the
president! Kyota. Alright, so I pointed out
the error in a nice way by writing "just
FYI: there seems to be an error..." FYI is
short for "for your information" and I
didn't want to order Michael to correct
the mistake because I'm not his boss.
Instead, I suggested that he correct the
figures by writing "you might want to fix
it before you submit it to the president."
So I'm going to send this email now and
I will be Michael's hero just for today.
Okay so if you have a similar situation,
don't pretend like you didn't see the
error. Point it out. Alright, so that's it
for today, thank you for watching.
See you in the next video.
