Hello everyone, welcome to E-mail Picks.
I hope the heat is not killing you. So,
anyway this morning I came into the
office and I found out that one of my
colleagues, Damien, was not at his desk. So I asked another colleague what happened to
him and I was told that he had fallen
ill and had been hospitalized, really bad
news, but fortunately he is not dying. He
just needs to reconsider his eating and
especially his drinking habits. So I want
to write him an e-mail.
Now I care about Damian a lot, he's a
very important colleague who I respect
and I think I'll start missing him from maybe around tomorrow afternoon, but
I'm not the kind of guy who would say
things like my heart is empty without
you. I'm not that kind of guy it would be
so fake if I said that. So in this e-mail
I want to offer my sympathy without
being too melodramatic. So here it goes:
Dear Damien, I was shocked to hear
about your recent health condition and
that you were hospitalized over the
weekend. At the same time, I'm glad it
isn't too serious. I hope I can see you
in the office soon, so rest well and
don't think about work. Best, Kyota. Okay
so I told him "I was shocked" to hear the
news, yes, but I didn't want to write him
a very depressing e-mail because being
hospitalized must be quite depressing
already, so I tried to keep the message
positive by writing things like "at the
same time, I'm glad it isn't too serious
and I hope I can see you in the office
soon so rest well and don't think about
work." OK so there you go, a very brief
e-mail to offer sympathy to your
colleague. So there is no more drinking
for Damien anymore, but I hope
you have a nice evening tonight.
Thank you for watching and see you next time.
