Hi everyone, welcome to E-mail Picks.
We're in March right now and it's one of
0:00:10.320,0:00:14.790
the busiest seasons of the year for many
of us. I bet you don't even have time to
0:00:14.790,0:00:19.289
watch these videos but you just want a
break from work. Actually the same, so
0:00:19.289,0:00:24.269
here I am making this video. Anyway, my
colleague Bruno and I have been working
0:00:24.269,0:00:28.980
together on a project for one of our
clients. Everything is going well and we
0:00:28.980,0:00:32.640
have started to build a personal
relationship with the client. So the
0:00:32.640,0:00:37.620
other day, we all agreed to have a meal
together because our usual 1 hour
0:00:37.620,0:00:43.020
meetings are just not enough to discuss
each person's ambitions in business. So
0:00:43.020,0:00:45.629
we scheduled a business lunch for this
Friday.
0:00:45.629,0:00:51.420
Dinner would have been even better, but
we're all just too busy in March. But I got
0:00:51.420,0:00:56.699
a call from our client earlier today and
he said that he wanted to reschedule. He
0:00:56.699,0:01:01.370
proposed to have lunch next Friday
instead of the one coming up this week.
0:01:01.370,0:01:05.939
I was looking forward to having lunch, but
I understand my client is a really
0:01:05.939,0:01:10.650
really busy man, so I checked Bruno's
calendar -- we can check each other's
0:01:10.650,0:01:14.549
schedule on Google Calendar, and it
looked like he didn't have anything
0:01:14.549,0:01:20.460
planned on that day. So, I told our client
it's absolutely fine to reschedule and
0:01:20.460,0:01:24.720
the phone conversation ended there. Now,
I'm gonna e-mail Bruno to tell him that
0:01:24.720,0:01:29.159
our lunch has been rescheduled. I haven't
asked him formally if that would be OK
0:01:29.159,0:01:33.900
but I thought he wouldn't mind because
Bruno is a very flexible and very
0:01:33.900,0:01:39.570
easygoing person. But in this e-mail, I'm
going to tell him to let me know if the
0:01:39.570,0:01:45.810
change will cause any problems for him.
Alright, so here goes: Hi Bruno, I just
0:01:45.810,0:01:48.930
got a call from Sato-san
and he told me he would like to
0:01:48.930,0:01:53.100
reschedule the lunch we were planning to
have this Friday to the following Friday.
0:01:53.100,0:01:56.939
I had a quick look at your schedule and
you didn't seem to have any appointments,
0:01:56.939,0:02:01.350
so I went ahead and answered that the
change will be fine. I hope that was OK.
0:02:01.350,0:02:05.640
Let me know if you had something planned -
I'll figure out something else with
0:02:05.640,0:02:09.690
Shirato-san. Kyota. Alright so in the first
paragraph,
0:02:09.690,0:02:13.670
I'm telling Bruno about my phone
conversation with our client.
0:02:13.670,0:02:18.740
"Go ahead and..." means to do
something without waiting to ask for
0:02:18.740,0:02:23.990
permission or waiting for another chance.
So, I'm telling Bruno that I felt it
0:02:23.990,0:02:28.700
would be OK to accept the scheduled
change without asking him. Of course, I
0:02:28.700,0:02:34.640
can do this only because I know Bruno
very well. I then wrote "I hope that was
0:02:34.640,0:02:39.500
OK" and "let me know if you had something
planned" so that Bruno can tell me if the
0:02:39.500,0:02:44.600
change is inconvenient. So there you go,
an e-mail to inform a colleague about a
0:02:44.600,0:02:48.500
schedule change. It's a little
disappointing that the lunch was pushed
0:02:48.500,0:02:52.700
back by a week but I guess that means
now I have something to look forward to
0:02:52.700,0:02:56.480
for a longer time.
Anyway, that's it for today. Thank you for
0:02:56.480,0:03:00.640
watching as always and
I'll see you next week.
