Hello everyone, welcome to E-mail Picks.
Today I'm bringing in a common problem
for all of us. It's when a colleague
e-mails you a file but you cannot open it.
So my colleague sent me an e-mail
yesterday and it had a file attached, I
clicked on the file a million times but
I couldn't open it. It kept giving me an
error message, so I tried everything else
I could imagine to open the file, but I
just couldn't do it. And now, the only
idea I have left is to ask my colleague
to resend the file. Maybe it's my fault, I
couldn't figure it out; maybe the file
was broken, I really don't know the
reason. So basically I'm going to
communicate that I need the file again
in a polite and friendly manner.
So here it goes: Hi Meilin, thank you for your e-mail. I don't know if the file is
corrupt or I am doing something wrong,
but I can't seem to open the file. Would
you mind sending it to me again? Sorry
for the trouble. Kyota. OK so I think
I'm doing a good job communicating that
I really don't know what to do by
writing "I don't know if the file is
corrupt or I am doing something wrong
but I can't seem to open the file." By the
way "corrupt" means broken. Next, I asked
Meilin to send the file again politely
and finally I finished the e-mail by
apologizing lightly because she will
need to move her fingers around a little
bit again to send me the file. Alright, so
that wasn't too difficult. I'll send this
to Meilin and I hope next time
everything will go smoothly. OK, so
that's it for today, thank you for
watching and see you later.
