Hello everyone! Welcome to E-mail Picks, It's Kyota here. I hope you're all doing

well. Now today, I'm going to ask a
colleague to carry out a task in a

project that we are sharing, so let me
show you how I'd write that e-mail. Now

"carry out" just means to do something, but
people don't say "do a task" they

always say "carry out a task." So a few
days ago, our company goal for this year

was announced and it's a pretty
challenging one. So in order to reach

that goal, I've decided to work even more
closely with our sales departments and

our PR department. We need to put our
heads together and act as one body,

like an orchestra. So I had a meeting
with the heads of both departments to

talk about our strategy for this year.
The first action we're going to take is

hold a seminar to create a chance for us
to talk with our potential customers.

In the meeting, the three of us agreed on
the overall theme of the seminar and

also the tasks we're going to carry out
by the next meeting, so here's the plan:

I'm going to make the seminar content,
the sales department is going to

coordinate the seminar, and the PR
department is going to come up with a

catchy title for the seminar, which I
think is the most difficult. But the PR

head had to leave the meeting towards
the end because she had another meeting

to attend. So now I'm going to write to
her to tell her the conclusion of our

meeting and also the tasks we need to
ask her to work on. OK, so here goes:

Maki-san, thank you for your time and
ideas in our meeting earlier. After you

had to leave, we just went over some
details about the schedule, so you didn't

miss much. However, as we agreed, we would
like PR to come up with a catchy title

and a concise overview of the seminar.
Would you please have a draft ready by

our meeting next week? I'll have the
seminar content ready by then. Thanks,

Kyota. Okay, so in the first paragraph I'm
just telling her that

there wasn't anything she missed after
she left, so don't worry. And in the

second paragraph, I'm asking her to
complete a task by the next meeting. I

wrote that I'll be working on a task
myself to to make sure this e-mail sounds

like "you do your part, I do mine." So
that's it, an e-mail to ask a colleague to

carry out a task. I'm already looking
forward to our next meeting to see what

the team will come up with, of course
including myself. Anyway, that's it for

today, thank you for watching and I'll
see you next week.
