Point 77 ”Cheer up” 初級ビジネス英会話

初級者向けビジネス英会話 Bizmates for beginners 第77弾は、”Cheer up” です。

仕事で失敗したり、大事なことを忘れてしまったりして落ち込んでいる方は周りにいらっしゃいませんか?
今回はそんな場面で使える表現を紹介します。

例えば、奥さんの誕生日を忘れて奥さんを怒らせてしまったヒカは、同僚のタロウに
“Oh no. My wife is angry.”「はぁ、奥さん怒ってるんだよ。」と言いました。
「元気だして。」と言いたい場合、あなたがタロウなら英語で何と言いますか?

“Don’t mind.”「気にしないで。」
でも伝わるかもしれませんが、不自然です。

そこで
“Cheer up.”「元気だして。」
と言ってみましょう。ポジティブで自然な表現です。

Hello. Welcome to this Bizmates for
beginners

video series. And today's phrase

is cheer up. What does this mean?

We will find out but first let's do our
test

from the previous lesson. So

imagine we are going to have

a picnic together this weekend.

And I say yeah you know I think the
picnic will be cancelled.

It's it's raining. The weather's bad. What do you say?

Not we should wait and decide later.

It's a little long. That's right.

Hey, let's wait and see. A nice, short

phrase that you could use. Okay I hope
you got that.

Let's go onto today's short phrase.

Cheer up. But here's what I usually hear
OK.

Let's imagine Taro is my colleague and
I say Taro, oh no.

My wife is angry. I forgot her birthday.
She's angry.

I'm sad. And Taro says,

don't mind. inda strange don't
mind I

hear this phrase a lot in Japan. Don't
mind. Don't mind.

But in English we usually don't say it
like this.

Like don't worry about it. You know you
know don't worry about it. It's

don't mind is a little strange. Okay so
what can we say?

We can say this. So if I say oh no my
wife is angry. I'm so sad.

And he says cheer up.

Hika, cheer up. Very natural.

OK and very positive. Okay so let's look
at pronunciation.

Very simple. Cheer up. Cheer up.

You try. Perfectl. Okay with my

sentence. Oh no, my wife is angry.

Oh, thank you.

Just like that. Okay so for homework. Next
time I will say, oh no

my wife is angry again. Andyou say

not don't mind. Cheer up. OK please
remember this

and we will see you next time. Thank you.
