Point 69 ”a get-together”
“We are having a party. Would you like to come?”「パーティがあるんだけど、一緒にどお?」
Partyと言うと誕生日会や大きなイベントの印象が強くなります。
“Party? Whose birthday?”「パーティ?誰の誕生日?」と相手から質問を受けるかもしれません。
そこで
“We’re having a little get-together. Would you like to come?”「飲みに行くんだけど、一緒にどお?」
と言ってみましょう。気軽な飲み会や何かの集まりの場合に使えます。
ぜひこの表現を使ってみてください。
Hello and welcome to this Bizmates for
beginners
video series for business people. And
today's word
is a get-together. What does this mean?
Well, we will find out, but first let's do our
test.
OK so let's
imagine we are colleagues. And I say,
Can I order some supplies, office
supplies online?
you say you know compare prices...
That's right. Sure, but please shop around
first.
Shop around. Compare prices at other
stores.
OK, so let's go to today's lesson,
a get-together. OK, what does this mean?
Let's imagine Taro is my colleague
and he is inviting me
to go drinking with some
friends. OK maybe two or three people. OK.
And he says, Hika, we're having a party.
Would you like to come?
And I say, woah, a party?
Yeah who's birthday? What's the reason?
What is this special party? OK.
And Taro says,
ah... nothing special, just a small
飲み会 OK. If it's just a small 飲み会
maybe we don't say party. OK.
Party has kind of a bigger
image, like balloons, and you know
lots of people. Maybe dancing.
OK, so in this case, we can say this,
we're having a little get-together.
Would you like to come? And I'll say, yeah sure.
jJst like that. So not a party. A party is for
many people, you know big event. But
a get-together, get-together. OK.
OK, so pronunciation. It's we're
having a little, we're having a little
get-together.
Would you like, would you like to come?
We're having a little get-together. Would
you like to come? You try.
Good. OK so for homework, next time you see...
we we see each other, please invite me
you say we're having a little get-
together. Would you like to come?
And I'll say sure. OK please practice this
and we will see you in the next lesson.
Thank you.
