今回はそんな場面で使える単語を紹介します。
例えば、同僚のタロウはヒカのシャツにシミがついているのを見つけました。
「シャツにシミがついているよ。」と教えてあげたい場合、あなたがタロウなら英語で何と言いますか？
“Your shirt is dirty.”「あなたのシャツは汚いです。」
例えば数日同じシャツを着続けて汚れているという場合はdirtyを使いますが、今回のケースでdirtyを使うのは不自然です。
そこで
“You have a stain on your shirt.”「シャツにシミがついてるよ。」
と言ってみましょう。
“Oh yes, I spilled coffee on it this morning.”「そうなんだよ、今朝コーヒーこぼしちゃってさ。」
