Down to earth は、よく、日本語で言う「素朴」という意味を持つ言葉として使われます。特に、素朴な人柄のことを話す際に “He is very down to earth” などと表現します。
派手なお金の使い方や生き方をしない、という意味で、「堅実」と訳すこともできます。
