Hello everyone, Justin here and welcome
back to Bizmates for Beginners where

every week, I introduce a new idiom
expression or phrase to help you with

your daily business conversation. So
let's jump right into it and get started

with our phrase this week which is
"go cold turkey."

So to find out what it means and how to
use it, please stay tuned, but first as

always, let's do a quick review of last
week's class.

Alright so imagine, I say: I ate too much
over winter vacation. I gained at least

five pounds! Alright now you agree, so
you think we need to watch our weight.

We need to be careful about what we eat.
So how do you say that using the expression

from last week? I'll give you five
seconds to think about it okay? You ready?

Alright go.

And time is up. If you said
"Me too! We must keep our weight in check"

then that's exactly, right good job and
thank you for remembering last week's

class. Alright so let's move on to "go
cold turkey." Now this is what I sometimes hear

so I'm at the office, I'm talking to
my colleague, Taro, and we're talking

about our resolutions, okay? The things we
want to do this year to improve

ourselves. So I say: You know, Taro. I want
to stop eating so much junk food like

chips, and snacks, and coke, but I don't
know how I should do it. Alright so

what should I do?
Taro, he says: Well the best way is to

completely stop. Now, okay I agree. Not a
little bit at a time. The best way to

make a change is to stop right now -- from
this point. No more. Now, to say this in a

more natural way, we can say...
yes that's right: The best way

is to "go cold turkey." Alright, so to
stop a bad habit, the best way is, from

this point, to completely cut it out of
your life, okay? So to stop a bad habit

completely and suddenly, alright" To "go
cold turkey." So for example, the best way

to stop smoking is to go cold turkey, alright? Or the best way to stop drinking

alcohol is to go cold turkey, okay? Not a
little bit at a time, but from now. Zero, OK?

Go cold turkey. Alright so

pronunciation is very easy, it's just as
you see it written here. So please repeat

after me everyone: the best way is to go
cold turkey. Your turn.

Okay very good.

Now after my sentence here: I want to
stop eating so much junk food. So what

should I do?

That's right.

The best way is to go cold turkey, okay?
To stop a bad habit. Now remember, this

phrase can only be used with bad habits, okay?

Alright so please remember this for
next time. OK our bonus question this

week is another way to say: "no... sense."
For example, no fashion sense.

If you know what the answer is, you
can leave it in the comments below. If

you don't know what the answer is, you
