Hello everyone, Justin here and welcome
to another Bizmates for Beginners video
lesson. Thank you always for watching and
today we are going to learn the
expression "tech-savvy." So let's find out
what this means and how to use it, but
first, as always, let's do a quick review
of last week's class. OK everyone, so
imagine I asked you: Did the boss like
our proposal? And unfortunately, he did
not. He wants us to start all the way
from zero. So what do you say? I'll give
you five seconds to respond, okay?
You ready? Go!
Okay, everyone, time is up. Did you say
"we have to start from scratch"? If
you did, that's exactly right. Well done
and thank you for remembering the
expression. OK, everyone let's move on
to "tech savvy." Now this is what I
sometimes hear -- OK so we are getting a
lot of system updates in our company, so
I asked Taro:
Hey, Taro. Do you know how to install the new operating system.
It's a very technical process, you have to be
good with technology. And Taro, he says:
Oh, sorry Justin no I am NOT good with technology.
So I don't know how to help you.
OK, I understand. technology can be
very difficult sometimes. So... but instead
of saying "no I'm not good with technology"
Taro can say... yes, "no, I'm NOT tech-savvy." So tech savvy means to be
good or familiar with technology. Now you
can replace "Tech" with something else.
For example media -- media-savvy or food-savvy
okay? So to be good at or to be very
familiar with something, you are
something, something, something -savvy.
Okay? Language-savvy, for example. All of
you are learning how to speak a new
language and although it's very
challenging, I'm sure you're very good at
it. So you are very good with languages,
you are language-savvy, okay? Alright, now
pronunciation here, it's nothing special.
It's as you see it here today, so please
repeat after me, everyone.
No I'm not tech-savvy.
okay your turn.
Alright, good, good! OK
now just one thing though, please be a
little bit careful with the V sound okay?
It's V okay, so make sure you're not
doing a B sound like "tech-sabby."
OK it's V... savvy, okay? So just be careful
with that. Alright, now after my
question: Do you know how to install the
new operating system? Alright, very good.
OK, so please remember this for next
time. OK our bonus question this week
everyone is another way to say:
"I'm getting angry." If you know how to say
this in a more natural way, you can leave
it in the comments below. If you don't
know, of course you can find the answer
in one of our previous Bizmates for
Beginners video lessons, so check it out
if you have the time. Alright so everyone
so that is it for me this week. Thank you
always for watching, enjoy your weekend
and I'll see you next Friday. Thank you.
