hello everyone and welcome to this
week's bizmates for beginners
I have a really interesting expression
lined up for you and that is you're on
fire but don't worry nobody is actually
on fire it's just a really interesting
expression that we use and I'm going to
tell you how to use it and what it means
but first as always let's do a quick
review of last week's expression and
make sure all of you are up to speed
okay everyone so you imagine we are
going to go out for drinks or we're
going to go out for dinner so I go to
the restaurant first and I'm waiting
okay everyone's waiting for you and you
haven't arrived yet so I send you a
message and I say hey are you still at
the office
everyone's waiting for you and you
you're coming right now you'll be there
very very soon so what do you say you've
got five seconds okay go all right and
time is up if you said I'll be there in
a flash
then that's exactly right and thank you
for remembering last week's expression
okay everyone so moving on to this
week's phrase you're on fire now this is
what I sometimes hear okay so recently
I've been working very very hard I've
been visiting lots of customers and lots
of clients trying to get contracts and
I've been very successful so I'm talking
to Taro and I say taro guess what I just
got three new contracts and taro he's
really happy he's really excited for me
and he says wow you're continuously
doing a great job okay
Thank You Taro for your kind words now
although this is okay the grammar is
fine it's a little bit long
it's a little bit formal for this
situation so if we wanted to shorten
this if we wanted to make it a little
bit more impactful and natural that's
right Taro can say wow you're on fire
okay so whenever someone has a string of
successes for example in my case I'm
getting lots and lots of contracts then
I'm on fire okay or whenever someone is
doing something very successfully
continuously okay so you'll hear this
expression a lot for example in sports
so for example basketball you know if a
basketball player is constantly shooting
and scoring constantly getting points
he's unstoppable
okay he's on fire okay or if a baseball
player is constantly hitting home runs
okay he or she is on fire alright so
whenever you're constantly continuously
getting success when you're unstoppable
when you're really really great okay
you're on fire all right okay everyone
so pronunciation is just as you see it
written here this week nothing special
so please repeat after me you're on fire
your turn alright good now after my
sentence I just got three new contracts
all right very good very good okay
everyone so please make sure to remember
this for next time and use this in your
daily conversation okay all right so our
bonus question this week is another way
to ask what day is she or he getting
married all right if you know the answer
leave it in the comments below if you
don't you can find it in one of our
previous bizmates for beginners video
lessons okay all right and a quick shout
out to all the people that have been
leaving comments thank you so much and
especially to you JP Dynabook who has
been on fire with these bonus questions
so keep it up and thank you
for the comments alright everyone so
that is it from me this week thank you so
much for watching have a great weekend
and I'll see you next time thank you
