Point 175 ”vacation mode”
Taro, are you ready to get back to work?
“No. I’m still in vacation feeling!”
“No. I’m still in vacation mode.”

Hello everyone and welcome to the very first Bizmates for beginners video lesson for 2017.
I hope all of you had an amazing New Year's holiday
and you are ready to start a brand new year.
So for our lesson today, everyone, I've chosen an expression that
I think all of us will be using the first couple weeks of January and that expression is:
vacation mode.
So what does this mean?
How do we use it? We'll find out in our lesson today,
but first I just want to make sure you've been studying,
so we'll do a quick review of last lesson's expression.
OK, now I know this was a few weeks ago
but hopefully some of you or most of you still remember.
OK, imagine I ask:
Were you working all night?
what do you say you have five seconds
okay? Go!
And time is up, everyone. If you said
Yes, I'm wiped!
then you got it. Nice job and thank youvfor studying.
OK so moving on to our expression today
vacation mode.
Now, this is what I sometimes hear:
I just got back from vacation in Canada,
and I meet my good friend and colleague Taro,
and I ask him:
Taro, are you ready to get back to work?
And he says:
No. I'm still in vacation feeling!
Okay I know how you feel, Taro. It's really difficult to come back to the office
After a really long and nice vacation.
But this expression,
although I can understand, is not quite correct.
So what should we say?
That's right, everyone.
Taro should say
No. I'm still in vacation mode.
So all of us, I'm sure, understand this feeling.
After we've been away from work for a long time or after we come
back from a really nice vacation,
it's difficult to switch our brains to the office atmosphere
or to find our working rhythm. You know,
our brain might be a little bit slow and we kind of don't know what to do.
In that situation,
we are in "vacation mode."
OK, alright so pronunciation. Very simple
just as it is written here --
vacation mode.
Okay? Alright, so please repeat the sentence after me
No. I'm still in vacation mode.
Your turn, go ahead.
Alright, good! Now after my question:
Are you ready to get back to work?
Okay, nice job, everyone. Please try to
remember this and use it in your daily conversation.
OK so this week's bonus question is another way to say:
troublesome.
If you know the answer,
leave it in the comments. If you don't know the answer,
check out one of our previous Bizmates for beginners video lessons
and you can find the answer there.
OK, everyone so that is it for our first lesson.
Are you still in vacation mode?
How do you feel coming back after a long vacation?
Let us know what you think okay?
So, thank you so much for watching, I'm looking
forward to having a great year with all
of you in 2017! I'll see you next week.
Thank you.
