Bizmates初級ビジネス英会話 Point 167 ”You got it.”
初級者向けビジネス英会話 Bizmates for beginners 第167弾は、”You got it.” です。
ちょっとコンビニ行ってくる、という同僚タロウにジャスティンが声を掛けました。
“Taro, can you get me a coffee when you go to the convenience store?”
「タロウ、コーヒー買ってきてくれない?」
「いいよ!」
と言いたい場合、あなたがタロウなら英語で何と言いますか?
“Sure.”
これでももちろん良いのですが、
こんな時あなたの英語にちょっとスパイスを加えてみませんか?
そこで
“You got it!”
と言ってみましょう。
よりネイティブに近づける表現です!
※”I got it” が相手の言ったことを理解した時の「分かりました」というのに対し、
“You got it” は相手の頼み事や依頼を理解した時の「分かりました」という意味になります。

Hello everyone, Justin here with another
Bizmates for beginners video lesson.
This week we are going to cover the expression:
you got it.
So, what does this mean and how do we use it?
Well, we'll find out in today's class
but first, a quick review of last week's expression.
OK everyone, imagine I say:
Wow! The negotiation today is really tough!
How do you respond?
I'll give you five seconds, OK? Go!
And time is up.
If you said "Yes! I need a breather!"
then nice job and thank you for
remembering last week's expression
OK, so moving on to today's phrase
You got it.
This is what I sometimes hear:
Now imagine I'm talking to my good friend
and colleague Taro, and I say:
Taro, can you get me a coffee
when you go to the convenience store?
And Taro, he's a really nice guy so he says:
Sure.
OK, now there's nothing wrong with this
expression. I think it's perfectly fine.
But if you want to add a little
excitement or a little spice to your
English then you can say...
that's right.
You got it!
OK so when someone asks you to do
something for them you can say
you got it.
Okay? So for example let's imagine I asked you
to make a reservation for our dinner party next week
How do you respond?
You can say...
that's right.
You got it.
Okay?
So when someone ask you to do them a favor
or when your boss asks you to do something
a task, for example, you can respond with
you got it.
Alright, so pronunciation and rhythm
is fairly simple this week.
Just one small point.
So combine the two words here to
sound more natural.
So "you... got... it" becomes
you gotit.
Okay?
You got it.
Alright please repeat after me, everyone
you got it.
Good! Now after my sentence:
Can you get me a coffee
when you go to the convenience store?
Exactly. Thank you.
Okay, everyone, now one more
special point for this week's expression.
You got it has on more
additional or one extra meaning,
and that is "you're correct."
So if you ask someone a question
and they give you the right answer,
you can say
you got it okay?
So there are two different meanings.
So when you use this expression or when
you hear this expression, context is very
important so keep that in mind.
Okay everyone?
Alright, so today's bonus question is
another way to say:
Revenge.
Alright? So if you know the answer please
leave it in the comments below but if
you don't know the answer you can find
it in one of our previous Bizmates for
beginners video lessons, so check it out.
Alright everyone so that is it for me this week.
Thank you so much for watching.
As always,
have a great weekend, everyone and
I'll see you next time.
Thank you.
