Point 156 ”Good call.”
初級者向けビジネス英会話 Bizmates for beginners 第156弾は、”Good call.”
“Taro, you know, after thinking about it,
I decided to move to Tokyo.”
“”Nice decision, Justin!
That will be great for your career.” ”
“Good call!
That will be great for your career. ”
※Call:

My name is Justin and I'm really glad to
see all of you here on the Bizmates channel.
Thank you for always watching our videos!
So today for our class, what are we going to learn?
What is this week's expression?
Well, it's "Good call."
What does it mean how do we use it? We'll find out in just a moment but first
let's go through last week's expression
with our review.
Ok, everyone so imagine I say,
"During my presentation I made a big mistake."
I'm going to give you five seconds to
think about it. Are you ready?
Okay? Go!
And time's up!
Okay, everyone If you said,
"Don't worry about it! You did great!"
Then you also did a great job! Thank you very much, everyone.
But if you couldn't remember, well don't
worry about it, you'll get it next time,
right?
Okay, so let's move on to today's expression,
Good call So in this scenario
I'm deciding. I have a big decision.
Should I stay in my home town or should
I move to Tokyo?
Okay? Stay or go? It's a big decision,
okay? So this is what I sometimes hear.
I'm talking to my colleague and my friend, Taro.
I say,
"Taro, you know, after thinking about it,
I decided to move to Tokyo."
And Taro says,
"Nice decision, Justin!
That will be great for your career."
Thank you, Taro. You're very supportive.
So, all right. Nice decision, good job.
You know, there's nothing wrong with this
expression here. It's perfectly fine
but in English, some people might say this; they might say,
"Good call! That will be great for your career. "
Now this expression is very popular. So,
"call" doesn't mean telephone call. No, it means "decision".
So a "good call" is a "good decision".
Bad call is "bad decision" So if someone says,
"Oh, it's your decision."
Well, they might say, "It's your call."
Okay? So for pronunciation, very simple.
First,
okay, drop the D here and combine these two words. So it becomes
Goo' call. "Goo'call."
All right, please repeat after me.
Goo'call. Good! Okay, so now after my sentence
here. "After thinking about it, I decided
to move to Tokyo."
Right! Good job, everyone.
Thank you!
Okay! So try to remember this week's
expression.
Next week I'll ask you if this was a
good decision or bad decision and you
are going to say? That's right, "Good call!
That will be great for your career."
Okay, everyone? Alright,
so for this week's bonus question:
When you drink too much alcohol and you have a headache the next morning
what do you have? Alright, the answer is
in one of the are older Bizmates for Beginners video.
So if you don't know,
