Point 155 ”Don’t worry about it”
Don’t worry about it.”
“Ohh,Taro, during my presentation I made a big mistake.
I’m so embarrassed…”
“Don’t mind! You did great.”
“Don’t worry about it! You did great!”
Hello, everyone.
Justin here and welcome to another Bizmates For Beginners video lesson.
Now today for our expression
we have something really useful that I use all the time.
What is it? Well...it's "Don't worry about it."
Alright, so what does this mean and how do we use it?
We'll find out in today's video, but first,
let's do a quick review of what we practiced last week.
So imagine I say,
"Oh, I'm sorry my train was delayed. Am I late?"
What are you going to say? You have five seconds. Okay? Go!
...and times up!
If you said, "It's okay, you're just in time!"
Then nice work you remember the expression.
Thank you! And also, you remembered my name right?
Justin, just in time.
OK, thank you. So let's move on to today's expression,
Don't worry about it. OK, so in this situation
I just finished giving a big presentation and I'm talking to my colleague Taro.
This is what I sometimes hear:
"Ohh, Taro, during my presentation I made a big mistake.
I'm so embarrassed..."
and Taro is a nice guy so Taro says,
"Don't mind! You did great."
OK, don't mind, now this is an expression
that I hear very often here in Japan.
People say don't mind if you make a small mistake.
Don't mind, don't mind it's, you know,
not bad, but we would never say this in English.
So more naturally...
that's right we would say, "Don't worry about it! You did great!"
Okay? Don't worry about it.
Alright, so pronunciation. First,
what I'd like for you to do is
I'd like for you to drop the T here and here so don't becomes
don' and about becomes abou'
OK, so then we'll combine these two words here.
Don't worry becomes don'worry. Don'worry, okay?
And about it would become abou'it. Abou'it.
OK, so if we combine it together, "Don'worry abou'it."
All right? One more time, your turn. "Don'worry abou'it." Very good, that's right. OK,
now after me, "During my presentation I made a big mistake.I'm so embarrassed...
" That's right, "Don't worry about it! You did great!"
OK, everyone, alright so next week for review and for homework
I'm going to ask you what are you going to say if
I say, "During my presentation I made a big mistake.
I'm so embarrassed..."
OK? You might say,
Don't mind! You did great!
No! You're not going to say that you are
going to say...that's right,
"Don't worry about it!
You did great!" OK, everyone? All right now, but before we finish
I have a super special bonus question for you!
All right? Now the answer to this question is in one of our previous
Bizmates For Beginners videos. So if you
know the answer to this: "Is natto good?"
All right? Leave it in the comments below
and I'll give you the answer next time.
OK? So the answer to this question is
in one of the previous Bizmates For Beginners videos.
If you have time check
it out and leave us a comment below. OK,
everyone?
