Point 151 ”tremor”
“Hika, did you notice the earthquake yesterday?”
“Ther’s an earthquake? Really, where? Here? Tokyo? Osaka?”
“Hika, did you feel the tremor yesterday?”

Hello everyone welcome to this Bizmates

And today's word is
tremor.
Kind of a "high-level" word.
OK, what does this mean? We will find out
but first let's do our test.
So I'm going home -- today's Friday -- I'm
going home and I say:
Have a nice weekend.
And you say...
That's right.
Yeah, we're still on for Monday, OK.
That's right. So when you want to confirm
that meeting schedule
you could say
Are we still on for...?
OK, I hope you got that. OK, let's go on
to today's word: "tremor."
OK, so here's what I sometimes hear.
So imagine
Taro is my colleague and I say:
Hi Taro.
And Taro says:
Hika, did you notice the earthquake yesterday?
Ther's an earthquake?
Really, where? Here? Tokyo? Osaka?
And Taro says:
Tokyo, Tokyo.
Oh, you mean the small,
small earthquake
Yeah, so earthquake. When we say "earthquake"
it kind of sounds big
OK? So instead of... if it's just a little,
you know, like a 3.0 or 4 is, you know
maybe an earthquake. But if it's 3 or
2.5, it's kind of a small earthquake
we could say "tremor."
OK, like this -- so I say:
Taro. Hey, Taro.
And he says:
Hika, did you feel the tremor yesterday?
Oh, yeah in Tokyo.
Yeah there was a tremor. I felt it
in the middle of the night. Very natural.
So a small, you know, little earthquake
we call it a tremor.
OK, instead of "earthquake,"
which sounds very, very big.
OK, so let's remember that word
and let's practice pronunciation so it's
Didyou... Didyou feel the tremor yesterday?
Didyou feel the tremor yesterday?
You try...
Good. OK, with my question or
with my sentence
Hey, Taro.
Yeah, I felt it in the middle of the night.
Perfect.
OK, for homework next time I'll just say
Hey, Taro. and you say...
Did you feel the tremor yesterday?
OK, so please remember this and
we'll see you next time. Thank you.
