Point 131 ”slacker”
“Taro, Kenji’s on another smoke break. He’s not working.”
“He is so lazy. ”
“Yeah, he’s such a slacker.”

Hello and welcome to this Bizmates for
beginners video series and today's word
is "slacker." OK what is this? Well,
there's an "E-R." A slacker. So it's a

find out, but first let's do our test. OK,
so imagine you and I, we are at a company party.
We are enjoying our time and I say:
I want to talk to you about our project.
Very important.
And you say -- That's right.
Let's not talk shop. Let's not talk about work now.
OK perfect, I hope you got that. Let's go
on to today's word "slacker"
Now here's what I sometimes hear. OK so
imagine Taro and I are colleagues and
Kenji is a heavy smoker. And Kenji is
taking a cigarette break. Again.
It's like every 30 minutes, he has a cigarette break
and I say:
Taro, Kenji's on another smoke break.
He's not working.
And Taro says:
He is so lazy.
This OK. You understand "lazy" right?
Someone who's not... who doesn't work;
who takes it easy. OK, this sentence is perfect
but a more natural way to say this, is like this --
if I say:
Kenji is on another smoke break.
He never works.
You can say:
Yeah, he's such a slacker.
Very natural! OK, a slacker.
We use this a lot in an office environment.
Someone who doesn't work very hard;
who's lazy; who takes it easy...
we call them a slacker.
Or we can say they are slacking off.
Kenji is slacking off. He's being lazy.
OK? Very common expression.
OK, let's look at pronunciation.
So it's -- He's... He'ssucha...
He'ssucha slacker.
He's such a slacker. You try...
Good. OK, with my sentence:
Kenji's on another smoke break.
Good! OK, very natural.
OK, for homework next time I'm gonna say:

Just like that. OK please
