Point 106 ”Just about done.”
初級者向けビジネス英会話 Bizmates for beginners 第106弾は、”Just about done.”
“Have you finished the report?”「
“I can finish the report about 15 minutes later.”「15
“Just about done.” 「

Hello and welcome to this Bizmates
for beginners video series and today's
short
phrase is "Just about done."
Done which means finish
or complete -- Just about done. What does this mean? We will find out
but first let's do our test.
Okay I'm calling you on your cell phone
and I'm waiting for you. I say: Where
are you?
You say... don't give me all that
information, just...
that's right. I'm on my way. Give me five
minutes.
I hope you got that. Okay let's go on to
today's short phrase
Just about done. Okay
so let's imagine Taro is my colleague
and I'm waiting for his report
So I'm still waiting and waiting and I say: Taro, have you finished the report?
Not yet? He says: Yeah
I can finish, uh...
the report about, uh... fifteen minutes
later
maybe 20...25.
So he wants me to wait. you know
a few minutes, or quite a few minutes
but it's a lot of information I can
finish the report
about 15 minutes later
Okay, what's a shorter way, a more natural way
to say this? Like this. so
if I asked Taro: Have you finished the
report?
and he says: Just about done. That's all.
Okay just about done and when he says
this "Just about done."
I feel very relaxed. Like "Oh
okay, it's about maybe 15 minutes
maybe 10 minutes, maybe 20 minutes..."
but he's almost finished very natural
phrase. Just about done
okay let's look at pronunciation it's Justabou'...
we can connect that and not "Just ABOUT..."
but "Justabou' done." Just about done. You try...
Good. Okay with my question:
Have you finished the report?...
Okay no problem. Perfect
for homework okay next time I will ask
you
Have you finished the report? And you say:
Just about done. Okay please remember
this
and we will see you next time. Thank you.
