Bizmates初級ビジネス英会話 Point 173 ”a blast”
初級者向けビジネス英会話 Bizmates for beginners 第173弾は、”a blast” です。
オフィスで話しているタロウと同僚ジャスティン。
ジャスティンが聞きます。
“How was the party last night?”
「昨日のパーティーどうだった?」
「本当に楽しかったよ!!」
と言いたい場合、あなたがタロウなら英語で何と言いますか?
“It was really fun.”
これでも良いのですが、こんな時もっと自然で、「本当に」楽しかった、という、
特別感を表すのにぴったりの表現があるんです。
そこで
“It was a blast!”
と言ってみましょう。
これからの時期、パーティーや忘年会など、楽しい時間を過ごすことが増える時期ですよね。
是非この表現を使って見て下さいね。

Hello everyone and welcome to this week's Bizmates for beginners video lesson.
My name is Justin and I am here to present this week's expression which is a blast.
So what does this mean and how do we use it?
We'll find out today but first, as always, let's do a quick review of last week's lesson.
OK everyone, so imagine I say:Did you hear? Sam quit this morning!
How do you respond? I'll give you five seconds. Okay, everyone?
Go.
And time is up.
If you said "Yeah! That's so out of the blue" then you got it.
Nice job and thank you for always remembering the expressions.
OK everyone, moving onto "a blast."
This is what I sometimes hear:OK I'm talking to my good friend and colleague, Taro, and I say:
Taro, how was the party last night?
I hear you were out all night.
It must have been very exciting.
And Taro, he says: Yeah! It was really fun!
OK, good. I'm glad you had a nice time, Taro.
Alright. Now, although this expression...
Yeah it's fine, it's simple it's easy to us,e but it's not really special.
It's not really exciting. So if you want to add a little more impact to your English and spice up this expression a little bit, you can say...
That's right.
It was a blast!
So if you had a really good time, you can say "I had a blast" or if the party was really fun and really exciting,
you can say "yeah the party was a blast."
Okay? So it's a really nice expression and I can get more energy from this than...
yeah, it was really fun.
Okay?
So expressions like this, I think are very natural.
Try to use it in your daily conversation.
Now, pronunciation is very simple.
Nothing special this week. It's pronounced just
as it is written here...
a blast.
OK, everyone? So please repeat after me.
It was a blast! Go ahead.
Alright, good. Now, after my sentence:
How was the party last night?
Alright. Yes
it was a blast!
OK so please remember this for next time.
OK so this week's bonus question is
another way to say:
too much.
OK everyone, if you have the time please check out one of our previous Bizmates for beginners video lessons to find the answer to this question here.
If you know the answer, don't be shy leave it in the comments below.
Alright, everybody that is it for me this week.
Thank you so much for watching, have a great weekend, everyone.
Stay warm and I'll see you next time.
Thank you.
