Hello everyone, welcome to E-mail Picks.
Today I'm going to show you how to get
back to someone about a question that
you took home, okay?
So yesterday, I went to a company to
speak at a seminar and after I was
finished, one of the participants came up
to me and we had a nice little
conversation. And during the conversation,
he told me that he had heard a rumor
that we were developing a new product.
You know, I'm not so good at lying so I
was like: "Product? What new product?
I haven't heard anything about...
Yeah, we're making a new product" and then he
asked me when will the new product be
launched. I wasn't expecting that
question and I honestly didn't know what
to say. Of course I know when the product will
be launched, but I thought I should check
with my boss or PR department about
what information we can reveal. So I
decided to say: "let me check on that and
get back to you later." So this morning I
checked with my boss and he told me what
I can say and what I cannot say. So now
I'm going to write an e-mail to answer
that question. I'm just going to say that
we are planning to launch the product in
2018. Of course I know this is not a
satisfactory answer, he probably wants to
know which month or which day right?
So I need to explain that this is the most I
can say right now very clearly. Okay so
here goes: Hiro, thank you for
attending the seminar the other day, and
it was a great pleasure talking with you.
I now have an answer to your question:
"When will the new product be launched?"
I still cannot give you a concrete date,
but we can we expect to launch our new
product in 2018. This is the most I can
tell you at this stage, but I will keep
you posted as we reveal more information
hope to see you again soon. Kyota. Okay so
I first thanked Hiro for the nice
conversation after the seminar and went
straight to the point to have Hiro understand that I can't say any more
than "we expect to launch our new product in 2018."
I wrote "this is the most I can tell you
at this stage but I will keep you posted
as we reveal more information." So this
means I will let him know more details
when it's okay to say more details. So,
there you go.
A simple e-mail to get back to someone
about a question you took home. So I hope
this helps you in some way.
Thank you for watching. That's it for
today, so I'll see you next week.
