Hello everyone. Justin here and welcome
to this week's Bizmates for beginners
video lesson. Thank you always for
watching the channel and I hope you
enjoy today's class. OK, everyone
today we are going to learn the
expression "souped-up." So let's find out
what it means and how to use it, but
first, as always everyone, let's do a
quick review of last week's expression.
OK so imagine I asked you: Did you see
our new product? And of course you have.
So our new product is really advanced,
the technology is the newest in the
world, it's the greatest, OK so what do
you say? I'll give you five seconds okay?
You ready? OK go!
And time is up, everyone.
If you said "yes it's very cutting edge"
then that's exactly right.
Good job and thank you for remembering
last week's expression. OK so moving on
to "souped-up." Now this is what I sometimes hear...
OK I'm talking to Taro,
my good colleague, and I noticed Taro has
something new. So I say:
Hey, Taro! Is that a new laptop?
And he says:
Yes, it's a version up XR2.
Alright so "XR2" in this case is the
model name of the laptop okay? So yeah I
understand -- version up -- so it's improved,
it's a better version of the XR2, but I
think we can use something a little bit
more interesting and that is...
Yes, it's a souped-up XR2.
OK so whenever
something is made more advanced, more
powerful and more efficient okay, it's
"souped-up." So for example a souped-up car.
OK so whenever you improve the power
of the engine for example, it's more
efficient, it's more appealing
it's souped-up, alright? So a souped-up laptop
or souped-up computer okay?
Alright so pronunciation everyone, it's as you see
it here: souped-up. So nothing special
this week, so please repeat after me:
It's a souped-up XR2. Your turn.
Alright very good, now after my question:
Hey, is that a new laptop?
Alright very good.
Alright so please remember this for next
time okay? So moving on to our bonus
question this week, which is another way
to say: "accidentally met." OK so if you
accidentally met someone at the train
station
what do you say? OK what's a more
natural way of saying this? If you know
the answer, you can leave it in the
comments below. If you don't know the
answer, you can find it in one of our
previous Bizmates for Beginners video
lessons. Alright, everyone so that is it
for me this week. Thank you so much
for watching. As always have a great
weekend, I'll see you next time.
Thank you.
